What You Need to Know About COVID-19
We are reaching out to let you know that we are as committed as ever to you during the current COVID-19 pandemic. We will keep you informed on the impact of the pandemic and how it relates to HR and benefits.
COVID-19 has created a health crisis. There are a lot of questions and emails coming into our team about health plan coverage, benefits, eligibility, and workplace changes such as employers reducing employee hours and headcount.
Here is a link to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document specific to the state of Iowa as it relates to unemployment benefits and workplace changes. You will also find a link to our most current HR Compliance Bulletin that summarizes the new coronavirus relief law as it relates to paid employee leaves.
Through our partnership with Zywave, your Capitol Benefits Group team is providing you access to an attorney-led webinar, Important Updates on Coronavirus in the Workplace, that took place this past Friday. You can access the webinar recording: CLICK HERE
At the state and federal levels, the rules, regulations and laws affecting employee benefits remain in place but are changing. We can share that insurance carriers are starting to relax guidelines for premium payments, and for keeping employees covered when their hours or incomes are being reduced. Some of our carriers are also opening up Special Enrollment Periods for people who previously waived coverage and want to enroll now.
These guidelines are being determined on a carrier-by-carrier basis, which means it's important that you pay attention to the communications you are receiving from both our team and your insurance carriers. We will keep you informed as we get information, and please reach out to us if you have specific questions. Don’t forget that the most current legislative information is always dropped to our Capitol Benefits Group Client Portal so please bookmark this online resource and check back frequently.
More important than ever before, we are asking you to stay connected to us on all levels possible. As local news and regulatory issues are changing on a near-constant (sometimes hourly) basis, we are using social media mediums for pushing out relevant information. We are on Facebook and LinkedIn.
Stay well! Be safe!
