Capitol+Benefits+Group

With gratitude and excitement, Capitol Benefits Group announces an addition to the team!

Marcie Strouse will join the agency in a Partner role effective March 1st, 2020, enabling Capitol Benefits Group to bring new services and additional support to our clients. Adding top talent like Marcie will not only enhance the leadership team, but maintain our commitment to quality and continued growth of our firm.

Capitol Benefits Group was founded in 2019. We are a full-service benefits agency offering expertise and guidance in the following areas: Major medical, pharmacy, short and long-term disability, pre-tax plans such as FSAs, HRAs and HSAs, dental, vision, life and long-term care. In addition to group programming, the agency also offers personalized guidance to individuals and families looking to purchase individual and Medicare plans.

Marcie Strouse brings 20 years of experience as an independent agent in the benefits industry. Currently, she is serving as the Government Relations Chair for the Iowa Association of Health Underwriters (IAHU)—a professional association dedicated to protecting insurance consumers—where she has also served in various leadership capacities. During her years of service with IAHU, the area Marcie is most passionate about is government relations; it has become her true calling. In 2018, Governor Reynolds appointed Marcie to the Medical Assistance Advisory Council (MAAC) for the State of Iowa where she was just re-appointed to serve another two-year term.

Capitol Benefits Group founder, Tracy, has worked in the benefits and insurance industry for more than 20 years in client management and benefits consulting roles in both the Des Moines and Minneapolis markets. She has experience with self-funded and fully-insured group programs with a focus on total healthcare strategy and benefits compliance. Tracy currently serves as the President-Elect for IAHU.

Here’s what Tracy said about Marcie coming on-board, “Not only do Marcie and I share the same values related to service, but we are both passionate advocates for our clients, especially when it comes to important issues impacting health care solutions in Iowa. Protecting employers and individuals regarding cost and still preserving a high-quality level of benefits is a top priority for both of us. It can take innovation and creativity to accomplish the right results for our clients and we embrace every opportunity to think outside of the box. Our future collaboration and strategic planning will bring meaningful solutions to our clients and I am grateful for this next step!”

Marcie shared the following about her transition to Capitol Benefits Group, “I’m excited for the opportunity to partner with Tracy at Capitol Benefits Group. We are better together! Tracy and I have worked together successfully for several years serving on the IAHU board of directors. We have worked on issues that are so important to me like ensuring Iowa has access to quality healthcare solutions. This corporate partnership will allow us to work even closer than before. Additionally, coming together allows us to combine our resources ultimately leading to better support and services for our clients.”

Both Tracy and Marcie enjoy time with family and giving back to their community. Tracy lives in Johnston, Iowa with her husband and three wonderful kids: Jake, Abbey and Max. She loves to travel and enjoys hiking and long walks. She enjoys teaching Sunday school, reading and a good game of bowling.

Marcie and her husband have three awesome kids: Sid, Ella and Libby. She has been a CASA volunteer (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for children in foster care since 2018. She has also worked closely with the Muscular Dystrophy Association since her twins were diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease at just seven years old.

We’d love to hear from you!

Next week, we are headed to Washington D.C. to attend the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) Capitol Conference. The purpose of the trip is to further our education and continue advocating for employers and individuals in Iowa!

We will be meeting with state and federal congressional leaders to discuss the most critical issues our clients face. We plan to present ideas on legislative and regulatory changes that would be meaningful for our amazing state.

Accordingly, if you have a personal story or an important message that we should bring forward, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Talk soon!
