April is Mental Health Awareness Month
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) sponsors Mental Health Awareness Month in May to inform people about the importance of mental health across the nation.
Consider sharing SAMHSA's 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline with those who need mental health-related crisis support. Healthy People 2030 also has a list of evidence-based resources you can share with your networks to help develop mental health programs or policies.
HHS Encourages Urgent Review of HIPAA Compliance Following Health Care Cyberattack
In connection with its investigation into the recent cyberattack involving Change Healthcare, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is encouraging HIPAA-covered entities and business associates to review their HIPAA compliance with urgency. This Legal Update summarizes this development and includes action steps for employers to consider.
The deadline for Form 5500 for Applicable Plans is July 31st, 2024
Employers with employee benefit plans that operate on a calendar year must file their Forms 5500 with the DOL by July 31, 2024. This Compliance Bulletin highlights the filing deadline and associated penalties that may apply in 2024.

RxDC Reports Are Due by June 1st, 2024
Group health plans and health insurance issuers must annually submit detailed information on prescription drug and health care spending to the federal government. This reporting is referred to as the "prescription drug data collection" (or "RxDC report"). This is an annual reporting requirement-plans and issuers must submit these reports by June 1 of each year, covering information for the prior calendar year.
In most instances, the medical insurers and third party administrators (TPAs) responsible for plan administration will reach out directly to the employer groups to collect the required information or to collect the required information to fulfill the RxDC compliance reporting requirements.
